• Solid wood and wood effect laminate worktops look great with white or off white kitchen doors. Many modern wood effect laminate worktops now come square edged for added realism.
• I advise against matching wood effect laminate worktops with wood colour doors. Although modern wood effect laminate worktops look extremely realistic, I find that the finished installation never looks quite right. Instead, try a solid surface (otherwise known as composite or reconstituted stone) or solid wood worktop. Alternatively, stone effect laminate worktops work well.
• For the modern home, there are some beautiful quartz effect laminate worktops available. These give a very contemporary look, especially matched with contrasting cabinet doors.

Worktop samples (except for solid wood worktops) can be ordered free of charge to let you see the actual colour in various lights.

Solid Surface worktops are a form of reconstituted stone. They can give some of the depth of colour and texture of real stone, but are easier to care for and far cheaper.

• Solid surface worktops are available in almost any colour, as well as some patterns. The colour comes from a combination of the mineral (stone) used and coloured resins used to bind the stone into a worktop.
• The bonding polymers make solid surface worktops almost entirely non-porous. Unlike real stone worktop surfaces, they do not need additional sealing or careful care to prevent stains from everyday use. It also makes it great for use in damp environments, like kitchens and bathrooms.
• The worktops have a very high temperature resistance due mineral content – they resist burning more than laminate worktops.

Most solid surface kitchen worktops are bonded to a standard chipboard base, which makes the entire worktop lighter to handle and easier to cut. As long as they are fitted correctly, the surface will protect the chipboard from damp.

We have a large range of newly added Bushboard Prima worktops for sale at “probably the cheapest online” prices. Check out our extremely reasonable delivery charges. I’ll be surprised if you find better.

A great laminate worktop installation tip – You will achieve a far better join with laminate worktops if you use PVA wood glue rather than silicone sealant to seal your mitres……and far less chance of water blowing the joints over time.

Be sure to cover every little bit of chipboard, both sides of the join with plenty of PVA. You need to work fairly quickly or you’ll have trouble adjusting the mitre once the glue starts to go off. Once the worktops have been bolted together remove the excess glue with tissue paper or a damp cloth.

Once dry (24 hrs to be sure) the join will not move, and if done properly there will be very little chance of water ingress. I personally have had problems using silicone sealant to seal laminate worktops, although virtually every instruction brochure tells you to use it.

I’m glad to say that with the fuss that has been created about the VAT rise, we  have hardly been effected. The more we survey the market, the more it shows that we are still highly competitive, especially on the Lecico Four Piece Bathroom Suites, some of which we offer the cheapest prices online! That is to say, I haven’t found cheaper like for like prices.

A great example of excellent value for money is this Shower Bath Set. I have personally installed many of these and you will struggle to find better value. When shower baths are mentioned this quality set from Fresssh is always my first thought for the customer. I find it to be better value than some vastly more expensive products.
